The Blond Leading the Blond, by Jayne Ormerod
Avalon Books, 2011

Readers who like mysteries, especially "cozy mysteries" with a touch of humor, will enjoy Jayne Ormerod's first mystery novel. I loved it, and can't wait for her second novel.

Jayne's writing style is easy to read and to visualize her characters and settings, but also allows the reader to use some own imagination.  The mystery is fun, and the humor makes it lighter reading.  We are surrounded by so much darkness in our world today, that this  light-hearted mystery is a welcome relief.

I easily identified with the main character, Ellery Tinsdale, perhaps because she is from the Midwest, as I am.  Or perhaps because she begrudgingly assumes family responsibilities that she would rather not.

The book jacket sums up the novel this way, "What do a third-grade science teacher and a small-town socialite know about tracking killers?  It's that they don't know that may hurt them."
